Small business owners should have a good understanding of the Profit and Loss Statement for several reasons:
(1) to better understand how well financially the business is doing
(2) If the business is doing poorly, the profit and loss statement gives clues on how to fix problems and make better planning decisions
(3) Understanding the statement will make filing your tax return much easier and efficient.
Finally, a benefit of understanding the statement will also prevent IRS headaches for the business owners. The profit and loss statement is the most audited statement by the IRS, so a clear, complete statement will minimize this risk for you.
Speakers: Scott Wait, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) focuses on assisting small & medium-sized businesses with Business Financial Management services such as CFO projects, tax planning and preparation. Mr. Wait also assists clients with Business Consulting services including Business Valuation services, Profit Improvement Strategies, and Exit Strategy Services. Mr. Wait has 16 years experience in public accounting and many years experience in sales management and customer service in the commercial printing industry. Mr. Wait is Treasurer of the Estate Planning Council of Reno, Nevada, and Managing Director of The McLean Group, and an investment-banking firm to the middle market.
Alex Ventimilla, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a graduate of Mexico’s National Autonomous University, Mr. Ventimilla has over twenty (20) years of professional experience specializing in Financial Auditing and has worked for one of the most prestigious International Firms, Price Waterhouse Coopers doing financial audits and internal control, both in México and the United States.
