Dear Sparks Chamber of Commerce Member,
It is with excitement and anticipation that I am writing this letter to make a major announcement that will change the face of Northern Nevada’s business
landscape and further integrate the area’s business network. But first, and most importantly, I want to thank you, our members, for the continued support that has allowed the Sparks Chamber of Commerce to rapidly become one of the top business organizations and community stewards in the region. We value your membership and participation and are committed to continuing to provide you with the tools and resources necessary to help your business succeed and further develop your professional career.
Over the past several years, Northern Nevada has become a hotbed for economic development and a true melting pot for cultural diversity. The profile of our area’s leaders, professionals and business owners is more diverse than ever, spread across gender, ethnicities and age groups. Over the past several months, your board of directors and chamber staff have made it a priority to be a conduit for integration and increased networking opportunities. It is with this in mind, and with much pride, that I am sharing some major news.
A new day is about to dawn for, not just Sparks Chamber of Commerce members, but the region’s entire business community. Over the last several months, we have been working with another of the area’s leading business resources, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Northern Nevada (HCCNN), to form a historic and landmark business organization. Recently, after countless hours of meetings and discussions with elected officials, business leaders and various chamber members, we have approved merging our chamber with the Hispanic Chamber to create a powerful business and networking resource that more completely mirrors northern Nevada’s diversity.
As part of this merger, the Sparks Chamber of Commerce will introduce the Hispanic Business Network, tasked with continuing much of the programming and events, including the Desayuno breakfast series and the Fiesta Golf Tournament, which have made the HCCNN successful and valued to the Hispanic business community. This network will also help create opportunities for you to network and integrate with Hispanic business professionals from around the region. We have also expanded our board to welcome eight new board members, elected from the previous HCCNN board that will help us create more integrated programming and offer a more diverse expertise to our already strong leadership.
The Sparks Chamber of Commerce has built a reputation in the community for offering exceptional member service, catering to small business and emphasizing civic stewardship and community spirit. Furthermore, with this merger, not only will we continue and expand upon these values, the new Sparks Chamber of Commerce is now one of the largest business organizations in Northern Nevada and, with more than half of our members from Reno, we are truly a regional chamber of commerce.
We sincerely hope that you share in our enthusiasm for this prolific endeavor that will further integrate the area’s Hispanic and non-Hispanic communities, to become one business promoting entity. This opportunity will allow us the ability to increase and diversify the services and programming that can benefit your business and career, and will allow us to significantly increase our contributions towards the community, education and various charitable organizations.
Imagine the possibilities and get excited at the opportunity!
Len Stevens,
Executive Director
Sparks Chamber of Commerce
