Committees

Members are encouraged to join a Chamber committee – for either the Northern Nevada or Reno Sparks Chamber. Give us your input and develop relationships with other members at the same time. Many business relationships begin from meeting other professionals at business / social events, and volunteering for a committee gives you the opportunity to develop your own valuable long-term business relationships.

Northern Nevada Chamber Committees

The formation of committees and programs below is intended to advance economic development, help create jobs, and improve the community as a better place in which to live and work.... these are standing committees and programs.  Special committees and sub-committees will be appointed as needed. We encourage all members to become involved in a committee of their choice.  Please call the Northern Nevada Chamber at 358-1976 and ask for Lyn Tackman for more information regarding joining a committee.

BUSINESS FORUM COMMITTEE
Annual Business Forum featuring nationally known speakers, breakout sessions & trade-fair. This seminar addresses issues and provides informational tools important to local business today.

BUSINESS EDUCATION SKILLS TRAINING COMMITTEE
Promotes career opportunities, helps to develop and maintain skill training programs employers need.  Works with enhancing basic skills and work habits in the existing workforce and supporting education programs for youth and adults.

GOLF TOURNAMENT COMMITTEES
Yearly golf tournaments usually held in July or August

LUNCHEON / MIXER COMMITTEE
The Chamber has numerous mixers every month and/or a luncheon.

MARKETING COMMITTEE
Reviews / coordinates marketing  & public relations for  Northern Nevada Chamber.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS COMMITTEE
Six $500 Scholarships are awarded annually to deserving students that attend the three Sparks’ high schools

STAR SPANGLED SPARKS  Committee  
Annual Fourth of July event held at the Sparks Marina. A fun family event.  There is also the
Model Dairy Milk Carton Boat Regatta Sub-Committee of the Star Spangled Sparks Committee.

WELCOMING COMMITTEE
Attends ceremonies, luncheons, mixers, etc., to meet and greet new members and current members.  The group is our ambassador to create good will. This group also makes new members feel welcome at Chamber functions.

Reno Sparks Chamber Councils & Committees

The Reno Sparks Chamber of Commerce offers a multitude of programs that benefit members and the community. These programs, in their totality, offer a tremendous return on members' investment. Business Advocacy Council

The Chamber is Northern Nevada's leader in advocating pro-growth policies and building coalitions that benefit your business. Taxes, employment law, education, transportation, energy supply and safety are just a few of the issues that affect your business. Call 775-337-3030 and ask to talk to Tray Abney about how to get involved and attend our members only Public Policy Forums.Chamber PAC is the name for the Chamber's Political Action Committee. It solicits and contributes money for candidates and issues that support businesses. You can support our PAC through a voluntary check-off on your annual dues statement!

Events Council

The Chamber holds top-quality educational forums on topics like marketing, immigration, exporting and related topics. We offer networking events, the annual Directions Economic Forum, and more.
From social gatherings (networking opportunities!) like the Chamber's annual golf tournament, mixers, and breakfast meetings, to business and educational functions, we offer a full calendar of high-impact events.

Business Leadership Council

More than 800 adults and 450 youth have graduated from Northern Nevada's premier Leadership Reno Sparks program. The Adult program develops current and future leaders through a comprehensive program designed to increase knowledge and awareness of issues and challenges facing this community. The Youth program provides high school juniors a program of leadership development which increases their knowledge and awareness of local issues through education and community involvement. The Leadership program is one of the most rewarding and beneficial programs offered through the Reno Sparks Chamber. Chamber members receive a $350 discount on tuition.

Membership Council

The Membership Council helps communicate the substantial value of Chamber membership and participation to local businesses, and assists in membership development, as well as quarterly New Member Orientations.

Healthcare Committee
Chair: Sarah Sommers, Solutions at Work

This committee plans the Chamber's annual Healthcare Forum and discusses healthcare issues of interest to Chamber members.

Reno
Sparks Chamber of Commerce Diplomat Committee

Whether it be welcoming new members, attending ribbon-cuttings to support new businesses, or attending Chamber events, being a Diplomat is a great networking opportunity and a fun way to participate in events around the community. For more information call 775-337-3030 and ask for Sandy Ammerman.

Diplomats act as a volunteer team for the Chamber, supporting the mission, goals, and efforts of the the Reno Sparks Chamber of Commerce. They act as part the organization’s welcoming arm, meeting new prospective members as well as fellow current members and providing helpful assistance at events and programs. The Diplomat team is especially effective in their welcoming and connecting activities, as they are fellow business professionals, and can share peer-level perspectives regarding Chamber values and benefits.
